Career growth in medical device regulatory affairs: A recruiter’s perspective

LEAN-main image

Abstract

Working within the medical device recruitment sector, a recruiter has the privilege of speaking with regulatory professionals across a wide range of companies, from early stage start-ups developing breakthrough technologies, to global organisations launching products across multiple markets. These conversations offer a unique view of what the hiring market actually values. Over time, several patterns become clear: the regulatory professionals who progress the fastest tend to make certain decisions early in their careers about the skills they develop, the experiences they seek, and the way they engage with the wider industry. For professionals already working in regulatory affairs and looking to progress further, these patterns offer some useful insights.

This article discusses these insights and provides recommendations on how to build and grow a career in the medical device regulatory affairs sector from a recruiter’s personal experience.
